Calling all K-12 public school students in Cabarrus County! This year's theme is "Bright Lights, Bright Futures." 💡🎓 Let your creativity shine by designing a 2D artwork that captures the holiday spirit and the power of education. Your masterpiece could be featured on the district’s official holiday e-card, shared by the Superintendent across our community! 🌟

#2 NC Farm Bureau letter drive for Western NC
|
Show your support for Western North Carolina by writing notes/letters/poems or drawings to families, farmers and individuals affected by Helene, or to first responders, emergency personnel and community helpers.

DEADLINE: There is not a deadline to speak of, but it would be nice to have these before Thanksgiving.

Can adults participate? Absolutely!

What if my I cannot afford postage? Email the typed notes to heather.morton@ncfb.com

Can I send small supplies as well such as pens or pencils or seeds? No, please direct all supply donations to the local missions in your county.

How should I address these letters? If the letter is to first responders or emergency personnel, or folks in the community helping, they can address them, “Dear helper.” If the letter is to someone displaced, or suffering loss, the notes can start with “Dear farmer,” “Dear community member,” or “Dear friend.”

How will these be delivered? NC Farm Bureau will be delivering notes and letters by hand as mail services are currently suspended in WNC. We will be doing this through organizations who have folks in western NC communities in the next couple months.

Will you include my student’s school/personal information on the letters? No.

Can I send letters in other languages, like Spanish? Yes! Please make a note about who they are for in English (e.g., “linemen” “first responders” “farmers,” etc.) somewhere on the letter, so they can be appropriately sorted.

Should I individually envelope and address the letters? No, send them loose and unaddressed. If you have a bunch, put in a large envelope or box and send them to NC Farm Bureau at the address above.

Academic Calendars for 2025-26 approved: During their October 14th business meeting, the Board of Education approved the 2025-2026 Academic Calendar and Early College calendars. The approved calendars may be viewed on our district website at the links below. Program Choice Applications for 2025-26 now open: Program Choice applications for the 2025-26 school year will be open from October 17, 2024 to Sunday, December 15, 2024. Parent notification of placement will occur in the online family dashboard the week of February 3, 2025. Parents will have until Monday, Feb 17, 2025 to make a decision and accept a seat in their online dashboard. Any seats not accepted within this window will be forfeited to waitlisted students.

School Counselor of the Year: Nominations for Cabarrus County School's School Counselor of the Year opened today and will remain open until October 23rd. We welcome and invite families and students to nominate a School Counselor that has made a positive impact for this honor! In order to be nominated, the school counselor must be employed as a full-time counselor, must have at least 3 years (2021-present) of professional experience as a school counselor, and must have at least one full year as a school counselor in CCS. Over the next few months, schools across the district will hold open house events for parents of students interested in program choice offerings. Scheduled events include:

Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office Bike Rodeo Oct. 19th
|

Cabarrus County Schools will be co-hosting a free webinar with The College Funding Coach® on October 30th at 7:00pm. This virtual event is for any family wanting to learn how to pay for college.
The College Funding Coach® was founded in 2002 to help families better understand the complexities of paying for college and how to make higher education more affordable. Since that time, The College Funding Coach® team has been on a mission to help families save on the high cost of higher education. They have established an approach that helps parents understand the college funding process, reduce their out-of-pocket expenses, and balance the challenge of saving for college and retirement simultaneously.

Juniors and Seniors: Fall Financial Aid workshop on Nov. 19th at J.M. Robinson

CCS Families of juniors and seniors:
Cabarrus County Schools will be hosting an in-person session with College Foundation of North Carolina on November 19th at 6:30 pm at Jay M Robinson High School. This event is intended for parents of juniors or seniors in high school regarding how to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and other important financial aid and scholarship resources. We hope to see you there!
